FCC Approved DTV Converter Boxes to Date

With so much who-ha about the digital tv switch, and the coupon program, I wanted to see how many “Coupon Eligble” DTV Converter Boxes are out there.

Here’s a list as of 17 February 2008, one year before the switch.

Insignia LSX300 (LG/Zenith) BEJ9QKE00710 has a cable in/output, composite video output, and a smart-antenna connector that looks somewhat like an RJ-45 connector. Smart antenna is an array of antenna’s (as one antenna) that automatically finds the correct direction and signal gain based on IEEE standard EIA/CEA-909.

Daewoo DAC-100 C5F7NFD099 has cable in/outputs and composite outputs.

Daytek CAX-01 VZRCAX-01 from Canadian company Daytek. Has a build in power-supply, cable in/outputs and composite outputs.

All these devices have and Electronic Program Guide, and On Screen Programming. And a remote control.

Note: This list does not contain DVR DTV STB’s or DTV STB’s that have a smartcard like CableCard.

Icom IC-7700 gets FCC stamp of approval

The Icom IC-7700 contest rig if now FCC approved, that means you should be able to pick one up in stores soon.

The IC-7700 is an HF/6M rig, pushing out 200 watts. This contest rig is considered the big brother of the IC-7800.
